For the past six years, members of our community have been getting to know Ed “Speedo” Jager. Speedo (as we have come to know him) has continuously amazed folks and has received many recommendations for his work with automobiles. At times people would be disappointed when they would arrive at a garage looking for him to work on their vehicle only to find that he had acquired work at a different location. That has now changed as he has opened his own business. Affordable Auto Care & Repair is located at the New Haven Exxon, 10 W. New Haven Ave., Melbourne, on the corner of Babcock St. (507 and 192). Open for business on February 1, 2012, Speedo is looking forward to seeing people he has met before as well as meeting new ones.
Speedo is an A.S.E. Certified Master Mechanic, fabricator and welder. One of Speedo’s qualities is that he explains to customers, in understandable terms, what it is that is wrong with a vehicle. He does not believe in just selling parts one may not even need. He is more concerned with the performance and safety of vehicles. Speedo hails from Long Island, NY where he also made a name for himself on the racetrack. P.B.S.’s P.O.V. series aired the documentary “Speedo: A Demo-Derby Love Story”. Director Jesse Moss of Mile End Films followed Speedo both on and off the track capturing his devotion to both cars and his sons. Scenes from inside the car during a derby give the audience a taste of what purposely ramming other cars is like. Some who have been to “Crash-A-Rama” at the Orlando Speed World in Bithlo have experienced the thrills he can bring to the track, winning a school bus race with a bus that didn’t even start and was missing parts was just one. |
RESTORATION
Speedo took on a few customer's projects which include this Chevelle. After completion the owner drove it from New York to California and back. Another project, an El Camino, became a high performance machine to which numbers remained matching.
